Hurricane Laura roared into Louisiana yesterday as a strong category 4 hurricane and left a path of destruction that will be felt for years to come. As residents of a coastal community, we know the pain that comes with the storms all too well. The mantra here is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We watched both Hurricane’s Marco and Laura because we were in the path when the initial models were first released. Another saying in our community is that you never wish the storm onto anybody. The weather shifted both storms away from our coast and further to the west. Now, those communities to our west are left in a wake of destruction.
